    Thermometer placement for ambient temp

Hello. I am wondering where the best place is to measure ambient temp. Should I place the thermometer close to the top of the tank or closer to the bottom? Where is the best placement for measuring humidity?

    Thank you

    Hi,

I would measure it at the same level as the snake spends most of its time at.

I always put the thermometer probes inside the hides on both the cool end and the hot end at first to make sure the snake gets what it needs and after that just in the warm end to monitor for changes.

And I would check the humidity at the cool end and the hot end to get a good idea of the environment.

Re: Thermometer placement for ambient temp

If your looking for the best place to get ambient temp i usually take the temp in the middle of the tank just able the substrate level. I have a temp/humidity gauge on the cool side along with my herpstat and a probe on the hot side to make sure everything is ok.

To get the best idea of what the average temp in the tank is ai figure it like a math problem. Cool side it one extreme and the hot side is another. So use the one in the middle!
