Room Heater Advice

Hey guys. I am looking for a small room heater that is able to heat a 20 x 13ish room from 60 degrees to about 75 degrees. I'd prefer no oil filled heaters and any heater that will not cause a fire if it is knocked over. I'd prefer something under $100 and something I can get locally (Canada - Walmart, Home Depot, Rona, etc..) I am not even sure if this exists but I thought I'd ask. I do not know much about these things.. I plan on using a good thermostat with it.

I'm also in the market for one too. I know in the south east it's not an issue at this time of year, but they are so cheap right now. I started looking at them and just couldn't pick one.

Not sure what you have against oil filled heater but they are one of the safest heaters out there , that and a T-Stat and you're in business.

I haven been using one for the past 4 years in my snake room and never had any issues or failure, I would not trust anything else.

What if it is tipped over? We have a huge rottweiler that likes to bump into everything and that is our main concern with the oil filled heater. But like I said I have no idea how these things work so.. Are they large heaters? What price range are they usually? Do you have to refil them?

They do not tip over very easily I have a pretty wild dog and she never tipped it over.

They are about 20+ inches high

They are usually around $40 depending on the store and time of the year.

They are expensive and you need a window, but there are window ac/heater units. I haven't looked for them in a few years, but they are out there. The unit works to cool in the Summer and heat in the Winter.

Could be a good option for you.

Oil filled heaters turn off if tipped over, like all newer heaters. Even if they lean against something though, I've never had an issue(not reccomended obviously).

The oilfilled heater does not burn the oil. It is built like a radiator, filled with oil. The heater uses electricity to warm the oil, and the entire thing then is giving off heat. The oil is completely contained, and cannot leak unless you hacked it open with a ax or something(or it would have to be majorly defective in some weird way and still have passed inspection and not leaked during it's time in shipping and on the shelf at the store).

Other than oil-filled heaters, most radiant panel heaters are pretty safe. The electric heaters with exposed coils that heat to red hot would be the least safe(without talking about open flame heaters of course).
