    tub for rats

my hubby says a tupperware tub without a lid will be sufficient enough for the rats i plan on keeping to feed the single ball python i plan on getting. im worried they'll escape. i dont plan on cutting any of the tub's sides except for a hole for the water bottle. i dont think rats can climb smooth surfaces but i was still worried. can/will they escape?

    Re: tub for rats

Only problem is, if there is ANYWHERE that is not perfectly smooth and they can get their teeth in...they will chew out. $10 10gal fish tank from Wal-Mart. If you will just keeping one or two until feeding day.

    Re: tub for rats

Will you have a lid? I keep small and medium sized rats in a glass enclosure that is nearly 2 feet high, and I think they would definitely escape if it didn't have a lid. They have a way of climbing up their water bottle and sitting on top of it, but they can't seem to get past the lid, which is just a metal screen thing that sits on top of the cage without any clips or locks.

Most pet stores sell a thing that hangs over the side of the aqurium and the bottle rest in it.
