Red tail boa with bad RI
I recently took in a RTB with a respiratory infection. Did some research and found that people use a med called tylan and was wondering if anyone has any experience giving it to the snake orally? How would I do this? can I just do it while feeding?

You need to get to a vet. The vet can take a culture in order to determine what meds will work, because the wrong meds will do very little sometimes. Also, oral is not recommended because snakes ingest things very slowly so it is not as effective.
This is just my understanding. Perhaps someone with specific experience can help.

I have used Tylan 200 on a female boa rescue years ago. I did injections according to the dosage the vet gave me. After 2 shots the RI diminished a lot and she ate. After 1 series of shots for 2 weeks she recovered 100% and never had a problem again.
Tylan is not going to treat all RIs. It only treats certain forms of it

Thanks for the info. Will call a vet. Also. Should it be high humidity or low? Google isn't helping me much with this one. Some say high others say low.

higher temps and humidity.
When going to vet they will do a culture to see what meds will work. Just Tylan was a alternative to Fortaz i could use. Still not cheap as Tylan 200 costs me 42$ per bottle so its not a cheaper alternative.

Is it okay to feed a snake with an RI?

definately raise the temps, but I would say just for a little while keep humidity down, most RI's are caused by too wet and cold of an environment.

Re: Red tail boa with bad RI
The people I got her from had her in pine shavings with no heat and a small water bowl. Does that change anything? This snake is close to 6 feet.

Well, many people are cautious of pine because of its potential to be toxic, but there is not very much proof to back it up. Other than that, yup, sounds like conditions that would cause an RI.
Best of luck.
