Knoblochi, cages, and gravid snakes!

With the trade I just got from a coworker, I ended up with three Applegate style droor cages. They have two droors beneath each cage, with a PVC tunnel going down to each one. This provides two subterranean hide boxes per cage that I use for humid/lay boxes. They're heated by low wattage light bulbs, with mason jars that screw on over them for covers. They're the shizznit.



Let's take a look into one of those droors, shall we?



To top off the arrival of 7 awesome snakes and 3 amazing cages, we palpated my Honduran females and found that at least 4/5 are gravid!!! Turns out they were doin it while I wasn't looking after all! I figured they would stop eating when they were gravid but they kept pounding mice every 3-4 days the whole time. This is my first year breeding at home so 'excited' is an understatement.

This girl should drop her eggs in 10-14 days.

Sure thing.

The Knoblochi cages have 7.5 watt bulbs (~82-84 degrees) and the pythons have 15 watt bulbs(~86-89). I should note that the cage floors and drawers are lacquered heavily to allow for high humidity. These particular cages have been passed around for about 10 years now, and I feel pretty damn lucky to have been in line for them.

Here's some closer pics of the drawers and lights. The light covers are mason jars, which is pretty nifty.





This is one of the tunnels and drawers with moss. The Children's pythons and mountain kings seem to really enjoy it.

Are those first snakes you showed hondurans to. they almost looked like a candy cane version of the mex mex kingsnake, but maybe I am crazy. Still what color morph is that?

The red/white/black ones in the first picture are Chihuahuan Mountain Kings, aka Knoblochi (Lampropeltis Pyromelana Knoblochi). People tend to use the scientific names for mountain kings for whatever reason. lol
