Rat bit

Kim my 06 het alb got chewed on her back just by her tail about the size of a dime. Not really looking for advice I just wanted to share my experience because I am normally very careful to make sure the rats are not in there longer than over night and that they aren't hungry or thirsty.

The only thing that I can think of to do differently is to put a piece of food in there if the snake is going to take its time feeding.

I plan on treating it with bactine, let me know if I should use something different. I was thinking of using the aerosol for convenience but the propelents would probably burn.

I wouldnt leave it in there any longer then 20 mins. Anything longer i think you will run into problems. And next time it may be worse

Rats can eat about every 15 minutes and they defficate quite as often also. Unless you leave food in with the rat chances are after a few hours the rat is going to be hungry and take a nice little taste. I leave mine about 15 minutes and then check. Neosporin for wound

X2, you should never leave even a well fed and watered rat in for more that 10-20 minutes.

When feeding live, you should never leave it unattended and no more than 30 mins! Hope your snake gets better soon!
