Re: How can you tell
lol yeah with mice and rats you just have to look for the balls. ONe of my breeding male mice has the biggest set I have ever seen on a rodent.... It's almost gross that its so big.
When they are younger, they still have balls just its harder to tell. You can tell easier by raising their tails up. The males balls will be way more visible if you raise the tail when they are younger.

Re: How can you tell
If you want to tell the sex of pinkies or fuzzies, but can't see any nuts yet to tell the difference....you can always do the "spacing" method. Hold the rat so that it's butt is facing you, belly to the floor. Gently grasp the base of the rat's tail and lift it a little bit. If there is a large gap between the anus and their pee pee, it is a male. If the gap is very small...female. This is how I sex all of my rodents when they are a week old, I run a rattery here.

Re: How can you tell
So one of my male BPs still not eating and I have a rat sitting on a 10g.
I'm trying to find out its gender but I'm really lost. It's a small rat. I dont see any testicles, or not yet? also the "pee pee" is very spaced out. Almost to its belly, that's what throwing me off...
When do rats develop their testicles?
