Snakes produce toxins that can make you sick?

Well, this morning I was told about something a family member had heard.

His friend told him that at night snakes will produce toxins (I'm guessing from their feces?) and make you sick if you have more than two snakes in your room.

Now, I think this is kind of "off" because I've got 5 snakes in my room and I'm doing just fine.

What do you think about this? I think it's probably said from someone who dislikes snakes (from what I've heard people say they make up foolish stories about them).

That's just bunk. Snakes don't put of any toxins. Their poo stinks, like everything else's poo. There's nothing special about the urates, and they don't extrude a toxin.

    Bunk. Total bunk.

I think they produce toxins that make you buy more snakes.

Re: Snakes produce toxins that can make you sick?

Also heard from a co-workers wife that her best friend had a python that slept with her and she said it went off feeding and took it to the vet. We all heard this story....

After I learned more about snakes and realized it was bull I told her to tell her friend that she was a liar. Heard the same story at a bar once too.

My mom also said that my cousin had to be hospitalized after a ball python "attack"....I remember he had snakes (we're not close).
