    Balling up

My experience with BP behavior is pretty thin, I really only know what my snake Loki does and what snakes in videos do. So after watching a lot of SnakeBytes I realized that nearly every time Brian or one of the crew snags a BP out of its tub, the snake balls up nice and tight. But Loki has never balled up. She coiled tight for a minute but nothing resembling a ball.

Is this common or is my snake just really ballsy and fearless.

    Re: Balling up

Balling up is not very common with the average house ball python, since they get handle alot and often.

The down side for big breeders is that their bps are not as used to being handled so they get a little scared when they get handled. At least that is my guess.

    Re: Balling up

Your snake is just more comfortable with human interaction. When ball pythons get scared, or really stressed, they will ball up.

    Re: Balling up

I watch a lot of snakebytes tv too and I've seen some of their snakes that they handle often seem to never ball up but your right that a lot of them do ball up.

I've spent thousands on my fish hobby alone its a little scary thinking about how much I'll be spending now that I'm getting into the world of herps.

Balling up is a defence tactic! If you handle them alot then they will not ball up!
