Re: Gahhh, Thermostat help!!!!!!!!!
I have a reptitemp 500r thermostat that I have been running for 2 years straight with no problems. It is a cheap thermostat but it is fine for single setups.
I agree that a johnson or ranco is MUCH better though.

Re: Gahhh, Thermostat help!!!!!!!!!
I wont go perportional on my racks because they will not handle but 500 watts.... Double ranco will handle ohhh so much more and mine are set to only allow temerature fluctuations of 2 degrees

Re: Gahhh, Thermostat help!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I was using a dimmer switch for my two tubs, and the temps where all over. But yesterday I picked up a Herpstat II and what a difference! They are expensive, but when you have several morphs it's worth it. But I got a hell of a deal.

1.0 Spinner
1.1 Mojaves
1.2 Pastels
1.0 Black Pastel
0.3 Normals
1.0 Anerytheristic Corn
55 gal. African Cichlids

I have a Herpstat ND proportional and yes it only handles 500 watts but even with 11" flexwatt you can easily run 3 or 4 racks off of it. My racks run 120 watts per rack. The Herpstat holds the temp within .5 degrees and costs under $200
