    Incubator, heat tape?

I'm putting together a cooler incubator for my gravid bp and I'm wondering if the heat tape which I'm putting on the bottom floor of the cooler could heat up the plastic to the point where fumes would get released in the enclosed incubator.

So basically the question I'm asking is, do i need to put some type of insulator between the heat tape and the interior of the cooler?
The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.

    Re: Incubator, heat tape?

Nope, it should be fine. The most important thing about the incubator is your thermostat. A solid thermostat can make or break your success as well as make sure your temps won't get too hot. Are you using a foam cooler or insulated plastic type? I used a foam cooler last year and it was just fine.

I figured it wouldn't be a problem and yeah I'm using a plastic type cooler, also thanks for the quick response and the great advice

You got it. What type of thermostat are you planning to use?

The helix grounded thermostat, I got it along with the heat tape from reptile basics

Same combo I use. Helix or Herpstat and you can't go wrong in my book.
