A Second UTH?
Some know that I combined and turned the two 10 gallon on their sides a making one long tank. With screen toppers on the face. He has one small UTH on one side but I wondered since his habitat is about 4 ft long would another UTH be in order for the oposite corner. I don't use a heater lamp cause of where it's at and the fact It wouldn't be safe around the cats. He does have a small 3 way desk lamp in the far end that warms the screen in theat corner. And he will sleep there off and on too.
So do you think a second UTH with the cooler area in the middle? That';s where his bowl of water is--in the middle.

Re: A Second UTH?
Whether or not a second UTH is needed depends entirely on the ambient temps of the room that the enclosure is kept in. If the room's ambient temps are steady and consistently around 80*, and he has a small uth to create a basking spot....that sounds fine.
If the room is chilly (or suffers from wide swings in temps) then a second, larger uth is a good idea...properly controlled with its own thermostat, of course.

You have a lot of nerve treating everyone around here the way you have and then turning around and asking everyone for help!
fortunatly (and contrary to your constant accusation) I do care for all animals and since the only one being punished by your arrogance is your snake I'll always try even if I'm not a welth of knowledge like some people here.
posting pics will be most helpful, what are your temps and what kind of gauges are you using, following the care sheet is always your best bet, some people can get away with a single uth some cant, I personally need a 100 watt bulb and and a large uth just to keep my temps stable.

Re: A Second UTH?
I use two UTH's because the room Opera is in is only about 72-76
Her to UTH's cover most of the cage and keep it 82-94.
Still she seems to prefer the small part thats in the mid to high 70's Go figure.

The room can be chilly when the AC kicks on. Travel trailers don't have an extra room you know. But he is out of drafts and all. I was leaning to a second UTH myself just for the shear length of his home.

Ahhh....yes. Travel trailer, of course! I must have missed that psychic wave when it flew by. I'll pay more attention next time.
So yeah...I agree, a 2nd uth would be a very good idea given our current understanding of the set-up.

Re: A Second UTH?
I've never been in a trailer so I don't know how cold it gets when the AC is on, but with my set up I can have the ambient temp of my girls cage at 80 and the ambient temp of my bedroom in the 50's. The black bulb I use puts off almost no light but enough heat to keep it plenty warm in medusa's plastic habitat. to help keep heat in you could also try taping up part of the metal screen that you mentioned.
If you are using a heat lamp be careful about how close it is to your cage I have mine pointed at the side of the tub (no way to hang it) and the surface temp of the cage wall is something like 96 degrees. I also did a test and hung it 2 inches from the floor and put a temp probe under it and the surface temp of the floor directly under the lamp was 109, so deffinatly watch how close the lamp is to your cage.
