    Really? Half logs are no good? Damn.. Maybe thats why he doesnt go in there. He loves the cold side hide which is nothing more then the side of a ice cream bar box.

    Now that I look at it from a snakes point of view, your absolutely right. The half log seems to big and not very "secure" as a home.

    Hehe, thats what I thought originally. But he was licking it, which makes me think he does know its food.

    Very funny either way, I might have to set up a camera next time to video tape this odd behavior

    I dont think he was licking it, but smelling it. The tongue flick grabs particles in the air and delivers them to something called the jacobson's organ inside the mouth, which is how your bp can smell

    Sorry to be pedantic but I think its a pretty cool bit of anatomy lol

    I'd agree. Its a very interesting piece of the inner workings of a BP

    I did know their tongue collected particles, I just thought that they tasted those tiny particles and it helped them locate whats around. I didnt know it was smelling instead.
