Second hand smoke harmful to snakes?

I was reading some threads that speculated that second hand smoke could be very harmful to snakes, and I believe it, but I just want to know if there is anything conclusive. Specifically, I am interested in knowing who owns a bp which is subject to second hand smoke. Please don't be shy to comment. And I don't want anyone bashing other people if they do. Smokers owns dogs, cats (don't know WHY anyone owns one of those, but I will not address that here), birds, etc. There must be smokers that own snakes. If you want to bash smoking, please do it in another thread.
I am asking because I have been helping a guy down the street set up for a large ball python and I was in his house today and it smelled like smoke. I just want his snake to be healthy in the long run.

Any smoke containing chemicals is harmful to any living organisms. If its bad for you, you can bet its bad for your pets, even reptiles.

This is a no-brainer. It's a carcinogen. Of course it's not good for pets, or children, or other people in the house, etc etc.

Well technically all smoke is harmful. And to the OP I don't see what the point of this thread is (not trying to come off as rude).

Re: Second hand smoke harmful to snakes?

Yes everyone, of course smoking is bad for me, you, and everything alive.
I think that I have not asked this very well since I don't think anyone has really answered as I had hoped. Yes, I realize the medical implications of smoking. The question IS, should someone who smokes not own any pets? As I said, I am helping this guy set up a tank for a snake. Should he have one at all? Is the snake just going to get an RI in a week and die? That is why I am asking for people who smoke who own snakes. Do they all die? Do people who own other pets just have sick dogs and cats or what? I'm not a vet so I don't really know the degree of damage it can do.
If anyone has any experience with this, please comment.

They're highly risking RI's if they smoke, but the chance of a case that extreme and untreatable is unlikely.

You are responsible for your animals. They can't escape your living conditions, so it's best to keep them healthy for them, and smoke in another room or outside.
