    Albino High/Low Contrast

I absolutely love Albinos, and would love to add one to my collection, but had a question for you all that has been bugging me:

I constantly see Albinos advertised as "high contrast." What defines a high contrast albino? My ideal albino would be almost white, with the yellows being extremely light and more like clouds, lacking the alien pattern even. Would this be "low contrast?" I may be totally off...

Pictures always help! Maybe an example of a high contrast vs. a normal or low contrast?

    Re: Albino High/Low Contrast

A high contrast is going to be very, very bright yellow - but they do change as they mature, so it can be hard to really label them. The deeper the orange as a baby - the more bright sharp yellow they'll be as adults.

Sounds like you're also looking for a reduced pattern one as well.

Here's my boy - reduced pattern, but time will tell if he'll truly be "high contrast".

I think I know the soft yellow that you are referring to though.

    Re: Albino High/Low Contrast

I think the oranges-and-white ones turn yellow over time. Brighter yellow for brighter orange, but I don't think the orange really lasts?

But yeah, you want a low contrast one. I'm surprised they aren't more popular--they're ideal for snow projects, too! I'm so-so on the higher contrast albinos, but I do like it when the blushing bleeds into the white areas as they age.

Below a picture of two albino brothers from the same clutch, on the left, is super sharp high contrast, oranges outlining bright yellows. His brother on the right is a bit faded and no oranges outlines on the yellows. Same mother and father, very different end results.

    Re: Albino High/Low Contrast

Albinos are sweet plus they make some great combo morphs. Now I'm really debating getting the albino breeding program underway...
