Re: My New Addition! (Gorgeous Dumeril's boa female!)

Oh Tiffany, she is beautiful! Wow, you are one lucky little lady. How did you come up with her name, and tell us all about her personality and how she responded to your initial introduction.

    Congratulations!

Thank you! I was just thinking of names. I named her Ira but I guess that was a guy's name so I had to go with something else. I was deciding Ira or Lanee at first, then I thought of Leela and it seems to fit her.

Her personality is great, she is so friendly and she likes to move around but also loves to just sit there with me. She hasn't tried to strike or bite me at all. I took her to the vet a couple hours ago and she checked out as very healthy with just a very mild RI that I had noticed the day I got her. She's taking antibiotics from needles every other day for 2 weeks. After that she should be all set and one healthy girl!

My mom understands me liking snakes and stuff so she wants to help out too which I'm so glad about. Some of my family is a little bit nervous about the snakes but as long as their in cages they don't mind LOL.

Very cool, Tiff! I can't wait to see some more pics. Dumerils are really cool. I've never had one, but I've handled a few.

Here's some photos on the way home from the vet's office

My cousin wanted to take a pic with this snake around me once I got upstairs LOL, so here she is! His phone pics are a lot better so this one really does show how she really looks

Hey look, I made your wish come true!^^^
They are pretty easy to keep, but the only downside is that they can be finicky eaters. It'd be surprising to get a Dumeril's to eat for you on the first try. I haven't tried feeding my girl yet since she's on antibiotics but hopefully she'll take it for me
