    fluctuating temperatures !

I seem to be having alot of trouble with this new BP of mine, i swear its bringing me bad luck. But anyway, the temp in her cage will be at 90 - 94 ht end and about 80 - 85 in cool end from around 4pm till when im sleeping, but in the morninf from where my room is getting alot colder the temp is decreasing to about 82 on the hot side and 75 - 80 on the cooler side. Which wouldnt be such a problem but it takes from when i get up about 7am till about 4 : 30 pm to get back up to 9 - 94 ect..

is this because my heatmat isnt powerfull enough or could this be because i dont have a thermostat? i really dont want to harm my snake by this change in temperature.

    Thanks, Harry

*EDIT* oh and i forgot the humidity drops by the time i get back from school so is there anyway fo keeping that constant aswell ?*

    Re: fluctuating temperatures !

or could this be because i dont have a thermostat?
Yes, that could be the reason. I suggest every and anyone to get a thermostat if they have a ball python.

If the temps are regulated, the humidity will also be a little more stable. If it's not, you can always get a more humidity friendly substrate.

If I forgot anything I'll add it later, but thermostat should be a priority.

find a small towel, and soak it in luke warm water. squeeze it out so that its not dropping water but still damp.

Just lay it over 1/2 of the tank cover. This keeps my humidity between 55-65 ALL day. Works great

try the reptitemp 500, its cheap and the temps only fluctuate by 5* most. i have two and they have been working perfectly
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

yes, the reptitemp 500r works great. I just got mine in the mail yesterday. My temperature is always between 90-95, never less or more. You just have to adjust the knob until you find that perfect spot.

You can get this for around $25 (maybe cheaper) on amazon.com. That is where I got mine.
