    BP female Pregnant??

Hi guys! I have a ball python female which I'm suspecting she's pregnant or not, cause when I introduced a male in, they actually fight like males, but I'm 100% sure they are female and males, the female had copulated before I introduce another male in, so what you guys think about this? Is she pregnant? Please give me some comment....
Thanks and wish all the best...

    Re: BP female Pregnant??

I've yet to see a female and a male battle.
The most I've seen is a female pushing a male aside telling him " leave me be".
Did you sex them, or are you taking someones word?

    Re: BP female Pregnant??

We have had a pair breed, then the next time we introduced them they started fighting and they are sexed 100% correct, it was a Spinner Male to a Lesser female. Theres no way to tell if she is gravid just by that because the time it happened to us the female wasn't even gravid. Have you tried palpating?
Oh and by the way we paired up the same snakes a different time after and they were fine. Have you paired them since?

    Re: BP female Pregnant??

First thing I would re-sex them or have someone else confirming the sex for you.

Because your "female" has locked with another male before does not guarantee it is a female

I had what I thought was a female (did not sex upon arrival) placed "her" with a male and had locks placed "her" with another and had a fight, which made suspicious, I than sexed "her" and found out "she" was a he.

Male and female while rare have also been known to fight however fighting does not mean your female (if a female) is gravid either.

    Re: BP female Pregnant??

I've got a male yellow belly that will battle with anything that moves, and he can't smell good sized follicles. Trust me they can smell them. He spends about five minutes around her vent before moving in to court her.

It's confusing though because I've never seen a female combat though.

I'm 100% sure mine is female, she actually pushed the male, but I'm not sure she's pregnanted or not...

    Re: BP female Pregnant??

Who sexed the female? everyone makes mistakes. Even some of the larger breeders on here have had females end up being males that they themselves could say that they were 100% female. It never hurts to double, triple, even quadruple check, because until you see penes, there is always a possibility that a 'female' is actually a male with some strong muscles holding it all in....

PS - Ball Pythons aren't Pregnant they are Gravid.

I've seen males locking with each other before... so just because you saw copulation doesnt mean the sex is guaranteed
