    Computer tracking

Is there a way to track your breeding colonies on the computer? Right now I keep track of weights (I regularly weigh my breeders), groups, and litters on wordpad. Each group gets a file. I wish there was an easier way to keep track of it all though. Is there something available, that's free? Do you have a better way of keeping track of your colonies?

    J. Kobylka has a program for snakes, i believe it's called vyper not sure tho, maybe you can pm him and see if he has something similar for rodents. But like piper said, i would use excel.

    Re: Computer tracking

I like Vyper. 10 ish years ago I had tried different snake trackers for my collection as well as excel sheets...but just ended keeping everything in a 3 ring binder. I really like the booklet thing Vyper creates. Then I just grab the lap-top and add the info in at convienence. I dont have a huge collection yet, but working good so far.

    Re: Computer tracking

Doubt there is such a thing all I keep track of is how many feeders are produced each week and that's it, it help me see my cost however I do no see the purpose of keeping track of anything else nor do I see how I could do it with breeder rats and mice that all look the same.

    Re: Computer tracking

Well I'd like to keep track to help produce more feeders. Rats that I find producing larger litters will have their babies held back as future breeders. I could also keep track of who is hardly producing and its fun to breed for color/markings. I suppose I could just use excel.

    Thanks for the replies.

    Re: Computer tracking

I know Mike C. had a program set up with his ASF's, he followed weights, births, sex, and amount of food used. Give him a PM.
