    Bp Sheded last night

Hey all.. Well he finally sheded last night cam off in one piece and rolled up in a ball. Today i changed his water and was going to remove the ball in front of the hide and well i guess hes still stressed he tried to tag me so i just left it in there. Tonight is feeding time and i was wondering since he just sheded should i try to feed him. oh BTW another ??? i was talking to one of my friends/friends today and he was talking about his boa he said on his heat lamp he took a regular 75 watt spot bulb and painted it red .... i told him i wasn't for sure if that would work so i said id ask you all and see what do you all think and should i try feeding him tonight if so should i remove him or not ... lol and why does he still hate me

its ok to feed but u really need to remove the old shed and clean the enclosure so u can feed it and leave it alone for a couple days. as far as the painting of the bulb, i wouldnt do it i would just go but one

My snakes a usually pretty hungry right after their shed. He probably struck at you because he's hungry. I'm not sure I understand your question about the light bulb. There would be no benefit to painting a light bulb. What is the purpose of doing this? I can see this possibly starting a fire, if the paint would ignite.

Well i just threw a live one in since he was out roaming and well he got him almost instantly and wrapped him for maybe 5 mins then finished his meal. Im glad he ate since its been 3 weeks (from when the pet store said he last ate).
And the light bulb thing that guy said he took (Bulb Paint) and painted the 75 watt spot bulb red and using it 24,7 so i told him i didn't know if that would work. he said its been working for him but what i was wondering can you actually do that and it work with out your snake seeing the light in other words. since im not for sure how the red bulbs are actually made i thought that it might be a fire haz but he said hes been using it and it works i was just wanting your all info on that that way i can tell him .. he dont have internet and the local pet shop around here doesn't carry the red just the basking bulbs and black lights

Your snake would do better with belly hear. An Under Tank Heater is what you need.

    Good Luck!

Don't let one persons success lead you to think its correct. Now if 95% of people on here did it and thought it was a good idea, do it. But not if only one person does it and just thinks it works well cause his snake hasn't died, but light bulbs get to over 150 degrees and the paint will eventually start to smoke or melt off causing some pretty bad fumes to concentrate.

I don't see why he didn't just BUY a red bulb rather then going through the trouble of buying "bulb paint" and a light bulb...

I personally would not use a bulb that I had painted myself. I wouldn't trust it.

ahhhhh...no painting the bulb. It isnt meant for that and unless he used a high temp paint I would think that it would release toxins. It would be cheaper to just buy a red bulb than to buy high temp paint.

dunno... but ain't bulbs painted from the inside? the ones you buy already done if its paint cause i doubt it. cause once i removed the paint following instructions from the internet by putting some salt in the bulb and shaking it, that removes the colouring to a clean normal bulb if someone never tried it

i wouldn't trust painting the bulb myself neither.
