Re: hovabator?
As i have said over and over in the multiple threads about hovabators.I have used them numerous times without any problems.I will be using them again when i start breeding ball pythons soon.Once you get the temps set they are good to go

Re: hovabator?
Bad, reason the money you spend on one you can put towards a good thermostat, which you need even if you use a hovabator, get some heat tape and a small fan, a fridge or stand up freezer can be found for free. Then you have something. I wouldn't be afraid of putting eggs in, I'm breeding for blue eyes and black eye lucys this year. Hovabator no way!

I was using a Hovabator and noticed that the stock thermometer was running 5-7 degrees lower than my Herpstat.

Re: hovabator?
Well you can still use a hovabator this season just get a good thermostat. IMO even if you build one next year you will still need a good tstat. You can never have too many of them. I know many people that have been using hovabators with no problems once the heat and humidity is consistent.

Re: hovabator?
I just don't see the point in buying one if you need to buy a different thermostat. Without the stock thermostat it is just a styrofoam box with a dinky heat element. 1 or 2 clutches this year quickly becomes 4-5 clutches next year. Last year I had one clutch, but I made a bator out of a free full sized fridge for the cost of a thermostat(I used an old electric blanket for the heat source and didn't need a fan since I only had one bin in there). It may have been more than I needed at the time, but I'm glad I have it this year for my multiple clutches.
