I used it for a couple years and hatched out several clutches each season. My females normaly double clutched and i even had a triple clutch one season .Well it depends on how many females you have and how many eggs each lays.If memory serves me right i placed 2 clutches or 3 if they are small clutches in a hovabator. This was up to 14 egg clutches from each female.I used tubs i bought from walmart and i will post that info on the sizes.See next post for this info

Re: First lock!
For my corn snake eggs i am using the following containers.A deli container with measurments of 9 and a half inches round 3" deep holding 9 eggs with room for more if it was needed. In the same hovabator i also have a 7" round deli container 3" deep with 14 eggs all in one clump.I also have a sterilite container that could also be used in a hovabator its 8" wide 13" long and 4 and a half inches deep. The only problem i had was finding the containers with the perfect height and length and for this i used a ruler at walmart to make sure the containers were what size i really needed.

Re: First lock!
Thanks for the info! I also found a nice Repti-pro incubator on eBay for $140 (shipped), but that's pushing my budget right now - especially since I'll have to get a thermostat to go with it. Hmmmmmm, guess I will have to think about that!
Btw, when I was at a local pet shop today (buying mice), the clerk recommended I call their reptile specialist who was out... she's apparently a corn expert, and has been breeding for like 20 years. I'm definitely a visual learner, so I'll see if she's available to help in person. They also said she'll possibly be interested in buying the babies, which is cool if I end up with all normals.

That is way to much for a hovabator .Do you have a farm supply store near you? The hovabator was origianly used for hatching chicken eggs.I would call one and see if they have some and go there as it will be cheaper.Oh dont even mention you will be using it to hatch snake eggs as it will confuse them .

Re: First lock!
That price was for a large repti-pro, not the hovabator... Those are only like $30-60 on eBay. So should I just go with one of those, or spring for the fancy $140 incubator?

Re: First lock!
we made our incubator out of a bar fridge. Any fridge with the outside in decent condition will do. Remove the no longer needed motor and crap, add in a heatmatt or two run on a pulse stat and hey presto. Perfect incubator.
