Heroes
I just caught the end of Vol. 5, which premiered this past monday. Don't read if you don't want any spoilers!!!!
So for all of you Heroes fans, what did you think? I thoroughly enjoyed the season. All in all it was pretty good, we got to meet some new characters both good and bad who will probably turn up again in the future. Mohinder wasn't seen very much, and his story seems to be gradually thinning out. Sylar is always a hoot, and it's a real interesting direction they're taking with him. Really the whole nightmare thing was the only way to convince the fans that real change had taken place, essentially aging the character an extra couple of years in character development without actually showing it.. Almost a cop-out IMO but I'll buy it.
I like that rather leave us with a cliffhanger, they just sort of introduce us to the next volume. Will the whole world actually learn about specials, or will those cameramen and reporters be in imminent danger in that first episode? There's always the potential for time-jumping by Hiro or any similarly powered special to remove knowledge of specials from the general populace by going back and preventing Claire from jumping.
I just hope that vol 6 isn't a rehash of season 4 with specials trying to hide as they are being rounded up by the government.
Anyhoo, the show is still entertaining as ever. Hooray.

Re: Heroes
We DVR'd it and watched it last night. It was great. I love the new Syler....saw it coming. But the new Syler is hilarious. "look....I didn't kill him" ....lol...
I had never watched Hero's until last season....my husband is the huge Hero fan .....but I was surprised....I really did like it. Did not realize this was the last one of the season.

Re: Heroes
Sadly, I think the shw will get canned. Low ratings. I hope not though.
I will say though, they've never recaptured the Season 1 awesomeness. Season 2 was absolutely horrible and it's been a rocky road since.
I thought the climax was...anti-climactic.
I thought that Sylar was going to battle with Samuel to the death, sacrificing himself and truly being redeemed. Instead we get the copout redemption without seeing it and Peter vs Samuel in a non-epic battle that amounted to camera shaking for the effects.

Re: Heroes
from what i hear, they had a major fan drop. went from like 12 million to 4 million from season 1 to season 2. They then got the original writer back to do volume 5, and is signed on to do volume 6. They are back up to over 8 million fans. Its recovering, and fast, I think it will be around for awhile still.. and if it gets canned, i want them to wrap it up, and not leave it open ended.

Re: Heroes
What I dislike the most is:
1) The nerfing of characters powers - Apparently, the writers thought Hiro and Peter had gotten to powerful. So both Hiro and Peter got nerfed in Season 3 by Papa Petrelli stripping their powers. Hiro just got his back to original status afer a season and a half of the writers screwing around with him. Peter's is terrible. Only one power at a time. He's like a watered down version of Rogue from the Xmen. I am still hoping that he will eventually be restored.
2) Misuse of characters powers - Very few of the characters actually have a brain when it comes to using their powers. I have a 5 year old nephew that knows more about strategy and tactics than most of the Heroes cast.
3) Use/No-Use of Claire's Blood - So it was revealed in Season 2 that Claire's blood can bring people back to life. HRG was shot dead and the Company revived him with her blood. So why at the end of Season 3 did they conveniently forget about Claire's blood when Sylar killed Nathan? And then this Season when it is revealed Hiro is dying, Claire offers hers blood but apparently it doesn't work on cancer. So I guess Claire will still need to get mamograms and Sylar should watch his prostate when he hit 40.
4) Really dumb character and plotlines - The latin version of the Wonder Twins from Season 2. Actually, most of Season 2 was stupid as can be. But the blunder twins were indeed the lowlight. Sylar Petrelli or Nathan Gray; second worsed thing in Heroes ever next to the twins. I don't care that a nice side effect was Sylar tomented Matt from within. They could have gotten the same thing from having Matt give Sylar amnesia or some other identity.
In order for this show to really bounce back they need to improve the writing. Season 1 was epic. They need to go back to that quality of writing.
