12 Year old in North Idaho fights s 373
This article just came out in my morning paper. Please read it.
Oh and if you read the comments at the bottom, there are sure to be some nasty ones later in the day. Feel free to let them know just how many of us enjoy keeping snakes, responsibly.

Thanks Robin. I am working this weekend inside one of our pet stores for an independent company. Hopefully I will get to meet him and talk with him.

I want to email that kid and tell him how mature he is for his age and how well he is handling himself. People don't realize that EVERYONE loves reptiles.

okay the way i see it is that even if they do pass the bill (which they wont) they will not be able to stop the travel of snakes being brought across state lines. they would have to stop all the cars and search for the reptiles. it would also make a giant dent in the economy and put thousands of people out of jobs. so it is pointless at this very moment i am trying to meet with my stat rep. VOTE NO TO S.373

1.0 red tail boa(chaunchy)

Wow. Some of those comments are from some pretty sheltered, closed-minded people.
Are they married to their siblings, perhaps?

Re: 12 Year old in North Idaho fights s 373
Somebody give that kid a trophy or ice cream or somethin.... He deserves it, and congrats to the parents for teaching a kid to speak out on his beleifs properly. As far as the comments on that page, some people will never understand. My dad thinks I am mentaly handicaped for having reptiles as pets especially the snakes, my mother on the other hand is quite intrigued. Some people are just that narrow minded if it doesnt effect them it doesnt matter. I personally still dont understand why the govt. is looking an federal law, to control a local matter.

Re: 12 Year old in North Idaho fights s 373
They're doing it this way because local efforts FAILED. The reptile industry is large and powerful in Florida, so they figured they could try to sway people who've never even seen one of these animals to believe that they are a threat, and pass a Federal law to bypass the will of the people of Florida.

I must congratulate and commend this kid for standing up for what he believes in and for presenting the facts. Kudos to him.
It is however, always sad to see the typical uneducated and hysterical responses from those posting on there who just simply have irrational phobias about what they don't know or understand. This kid seems to have more rationality than many of the adults on that site.

OK, I'll admit it, this article made me cry.....I cannot fathom how a 12 year old boy can see such reason and make such intelligent remarks on this issue when some fully grown adults (everyone that is in support of this ban) can be such (insert lots of unsavory words here).
This kid is my hero !
