Re: Anyone ever have a male that never bred?

    My Pins are excellent breeders!!!

I had a Pastel het Hypo male that didn't start breeding until he was over 3 years old!

Re: Anyone ever have a male that never bred?

I've had several that were reluctant breeders and currently have some that also are reluctant. SO FAR all of the oldest ones have come around, some had gone many years though. I've also got some males that will only breed one or two females every year despite putting them in with six or more. Just make sure you give them a variety of females to choose from.

Huh that is a really weird that pins are stubborn breeders.

I've used this trick and it's worked for me. When you have a breeding and they're done remove the male and put the stubborn male in with the female. I believe it's a step better then the sperm plug trick.

Re: Anyone ever have a male that never bred?

Put the pin and another male in WITH the female and see what happens but keep an eye on them because it gets pretty violant! We had a Spinner male that would breed anyone but a Super Pastel, so we put them together and also put a Male Bee in with them and they started battling. After five minutes I took the Bee out (it was difficult because both males were trying to bite me) and left the Spinner and Super together and they locked within an hour.
    Hope this helps!

Re: Anyone ever have a male that never bred?

I finally got my pin to breed after months of disgust with him. Mine is an 08 at 700g or so. What I did was took him out from the 12qt and put him in a bigger 40qt tub and within 2-3 weeks he was producing plugs! Fist girl I put him to after that he locked with. Then he locked with my pastel girl and nothing since so IDK. But I too have heard that pins are a PITA to get to breed for some reason.

Re: Anyone ever have a male that never bred?

Ive never read this before on the pins. My pin is actually my go-to snake for breeding this year lol. He already has one of my pastles gravid and I have been trying my spider with another one and he aint getting the job done. Im thinking of giving the pin another chance with her as well.
I tried putting the pins fresh shed in with my spider and after she shed also and nothing.
Good luck getting him to go!

Pins being stubborn breeders.... does that refer only to males? Or can female pins give headaches also?
