1st Season of breeding, net some tips! Pls
Hi All

It's my first season of breeding and have a couple of questions about building my Incubator.

Got a pulse propotionate thermostat, heat mat, polystyrene box all set up.

Have any of you built your own boxes and did you have vents ie small hole in the bottom of one side and a small hole in the other side top (to allow air flow).

What is the ideal temperature to have your box at?

Is 950 grams to small to start breeding?

950 grams is a bit small, but if the female has good proportions and is at least 3 years old at that weight, you could attempt breeding.

As far as your incubation box goes, you definitely don't want any holes in it, as this allows the humidity to drop (ideally you want 95% or higher relative humidity). As for temps (they are in farenheit, as I am in the states), 88-92 is the ideal range. We incubate at 88.6 to 89.2, and have found that to be the best temp (we have tried everything from 87.5 to 91). At the lower temps, you can expect your eggs to make it to day 59 or 60. At the higher temps, we have had snakes hatch as early as day 54.
