How good are Corns at escaping?

I have a 32 qt tub rack system. The tub has an ever so slight gap between the top and the rack itself. I used a soldering iron to put two rows of air holes in the sides.
My 1-1.5 year old Corn has been hanging out near the front in order to, I suspect, look for a way out.
Is it OK to keep corns in tubs with no lid? Also, if I put the lid on, how many air holes are enough for the tub portion??

If he can get his head thru the gap he is gone .If you forget to close the tub completly he will find that gap for sure.They are great escape artists

One thing about the lid being on now.They can get under the lip of the lid to hide and when you pull out the tub he might slip away.This is how i lost a baby corn .If you have several holes it should be enough.Just make sure he cant get his head thru one

VERY GOOD!! I know because I've had two escape, one of which still hasn't been found. The first was Scout, my little reverse okeetee, who managed to squeeze out of a locking 12qt tub... thank goodness I found him quickly, just a few feet away in the closet. Then I had one escape on a car ride (coming home from her former owner's place) - but that may have been our fault, since I'm not sure the tub was tightly closed.

So yeah, I'd be awfully nervous about any tiny gap! I added binder clips to Scout's tub, since I'm not taking chances after his escape attempt... apparently even the locking Sterilites aren't secure enough. As for the holes, I just do one row all the way around (about 1/2 inch apart), maybe two if I notice humidity issues.
