Better how? That movie you posted was seriously lacking plotwise.

Better computer graphics, sorry for not specifying. This man took a year off his job to make this video. None of it's real, it's all CG.

I wouldn't say they're better. On equal footing maybe, but not better. Most of Avatar was CGI also; I believe I read that it was 60% CGI, 40% live action.

Oh, well I thought this looked more realistic. I'm pretty amazed with how real this stuff looked. I wouldn't have known it was CG.

    Re: Better than Avatar

I can believe it was all CG. Super realistic CG is possible, just incredibly time consuming. That short film was very enjoyable.

There is a good reason that CG movies take years to make. Designing the characters and assets takes a while, but then comes the modeling, the rigging, the texturing, the animation, the SFX, among many other things... and then all that has to be rendered. It takes forever. Trust me.

Don't take these movies (or video games!) for granted. You have no idea how much work is poured into them!

Okay, that's my little rant, sorry. I am going to school to do stuff like this. It's tedious work.

    Re: Better than Avatar

Avatar is better than all other movies. As good as District 9 was, Avatar was a better experience. Having seen it in Imax 3d, this movie kept my attention because it was a rather unique story but the visuals were stunning. Had this movie come out 10 years ago, it would have been a mess I'm sure.

    Re: Better than Avatar

I am not knocking on the work. It's really superb for what it was. Boring as hell though...

But I can't agree here with it being better graphics that Avatar. All the detail shots were of inanimate objects, which are the easiest to rendor. The only graphics that impress me this day and ago are of humans or humanoids.

I was blown away by Terminator Salvation's splicing on a CG head of Arnold to the body double playing the T2000. I could see the pores of the skin and the glistening of the sweat. If I didn't know any better, you could have fooled me into thinking that was really Arnold from 1982.

Avatar took that to a while new level with the Navi and the animals of Pandora. In no way did it look cartoonish. It was all very real looking and very fluid in movement.

The one man in this piece is seen at a distance and some of the motion isn't fluid, although that oculd be the internet lag. Impressive as it may be, it's no Avatar.
