Reptiles & Kids do you have both?

How many of you have reptiles and kids? I currently have BP's and also two children under four. I am curious if those of you who are parents are ever worried about Salmonella? I am really paranoid about possibly transmitting it to my kids. I am diligent about keeping them separate from the snakes, keeping snake stuff away from our eating areas, and the main living areas, as well as hand washing etc... But I still worry. How many of you have successfully managed to live with both children and reptiles without any problems? What are your rules for reducing the risk of Salmonella?
    .1 Normal
    1.1 Pastel
    .1 Cinnamon
    .1 Pinstripe
    .1 Rat terrier
    1.1 Children

Re: Reptiles & Kids do you have both?

I have 3 children under 4 and a couple dozen bps. I have a few rules. The snake stuff stays in the snake room and the children don't. It seams to work fine for me. My oldest boy goes in the snake room once in a while and washes his hands as soon as he leaves. I don't worry about salmonella and it has never been a problem.
