Dave (black pastel) finally shed!
Okay, withoner/David... your namesake black pastel finally shed, so here are the pictures as promised! He's looking great IMO, and I'd think he was a cinnamon if his original breeder (Robert Seib) wasn't so reputable. I'm actually stoked, because it's like having both morphs in one! Here he is:

Lolo's Collection...
Ball Pythons: 0.4 Normals, 1.0 Pastel, 1.1 Mojaves, 1.0 Black Pastel, 2.0 Spiders, 0.1 Lesser, 1.0 Orange Ghost, 0.1 Honeybee
0.1 Spotted Python, 1.1 Stimson's Pythons, 1.0 Jungle Carpet Python
3.4 Corn Snakes, 1.1 Western Hognose Snakes, 1.2 cats, and 1.0 dog (47lb mutt)

Wow, he's got some quirky similarities to a cinny!
Love the picture where he's peeking out from the blankets!

Re: Dave (black pastel) finally shed!
I just looked at the Hunter's Morph Guide and I'm even more confused.
http://www.nextworldexotics.com/hgcin.htm
He does have the black pastel "squiggles"............
It's possible Robert was wrong..........he's known for his Indigos so he could just have had black on the brain.
Glad he finally shed for you!

Great, now you have me confused too! Maybe I'll put up a poll on the general forum, and see what the consensus is on him. Not that it matters, but I guess it might when I'm selling his offspring - like if I breed him with a pastel, I'll need to know whether they're black pewters or pastel pewters. Right?? Anyway, thanks again for my pretty boy! He's really a sweetheart too, and was chillin' with me for a while tonight.
Btw, his shed took forever and did come off in pieces (nothing stuck, though)... kinda weird, since I kept the humidity super high all week. Guess he was just stressed from the move or something.

If nothing was stuck he's OK.....did he leave you anything else with that shed?
The move is stressful, especially for a big wussy baby like him.
Put up a couple of photos - get a good shot of his head, the squiggles and his belly.
He was jet black when he was a baby - I mean black.

He does look like a Cinny, but I'm no expert.
I love the pic of him peaking out, what cutie!

LOL... he is kind of a wuss. He also left me a nice big poop & urate, so I assume all is well! When do you suggest I feed him, and will he take a mouse - or only rats?

So weird... I'll post some good photos on a poll, in the general BP forum.

Try a mouse. He polished off a good sized rat a couple of weeks ago - did you get the excel spreadsheet?

Yup - thanks! I've only copied a few weeks into my iHerp, but will study it carefully before feeding. I usually give live mice to my pythons, so hopefully that will satisfy him.
P.S. I'm going to post that poll/thread on the morph forum instead... just got some close-up photos for it.

There's my boy...
Hard to tell if he really is a cinnamon because the browning with age. One strong indicator when I look at black pastels is the dorsal spots being yellow, but his are faded to the same color as the alien heads. Some lines don't have as much yellow it seems, furthering confusing the confused like me.
I've been looking hard for a pewter and you can't tell with any certainty what it's parent was by looking. Some cinnamon pewters are more gray scale and some black pastel pewters are more brown scale.
