For all the south carolina folks

Ive been doing alot of reasearch lately trying to find out regulations for exotic cats in south carolina. And here is some of the stuff I have found out. South carolina as a whole really doesnt worry to much about exotic pets but some counties and towns have banned some of them.

    Counties

    Chester County
    York County
    Lancaster County
    Fairfield County
    Lexington County
    greenville county

    Towns
    Mt. pleasant
    beaufort

    I also found this

Section 47-5-50 Prohibition on sale of wild carnivores as pets; No carnivores, which normally are not domesticated, may be sold as a pet in this state. Dangerous animals are not permitted beyond premises unless safely restrained. Further, those possessing dangerous animals must maintain them in a controlled and confined manner. Dangerous animal is not defined only on the basis of species. No person may possess with the intent to sell, offer for sale, breed, or buy, or attempt to buy, a known dangerous animal; however, this subsection does not apply to a person who is licensed to possess and breed an animal under the classifications specified and regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture under the Animal Welfare Act as codified in Title 7 of the United States Code. It is illegal to sell, possess or import wild felines except for scientific or exhibition purposes

But from what the Charles with the fish and wildlife office in atlanta told me was that this referrs to wild animals not captive bred animals. He said it would be fine to have a captive born breeder from a usda certified breeding facility ship one into states but I could not go out in the woods and bring home a baby bobcat.

Im still researching some more into this and trying to find out all the counties and towns that have bans of restrictions on them. And Ill post more when there up

Re: For all the south carolina folks

Well from talking to the lady in greenville county reptiles are legal but any type of exotic furbearer is illegal. They use to be legal until 2007 they stopped issuing permits for them. She said someone would have to call in and report you and they would come out and issue a summons on you. She said it is possible for you to obtain a permit with them if you get some kind of permit with the dnr but she couldnt tell me what permit to apply for so I think ill stay in laurens county now lol.
