The one thing I've learned in my almost 49 years on this Earth is that nothing is trivial. Something as simple as snow is a wonder to most of the world. Once in the last 5 years would almost make it mystical. How many times have you seen it snow in your llife time?

I can only remember seeing it snow and lie for as long as it has maybe four or five times in my lifetime. It's great to see the kids out enjoying the snow and the look on my wee girls face whenever she drew back the curtains, and she seen snow for the first time, was priceless.

The only downside to the snow is that our country must be one of the worst prepared countries in the world when it comes to even a light dusting of snow. Main roads and motorways become treacherous and public transport grinds to a halt. It is a good excuse for a day off work though

Glad to see the children enjoying such a rare and enjoyable event. I'm sure it will be something for them to remember for some time. Don't worry about your country and the ability to deal with snow. I live in Maryland (USA) and we get snow 6 or more times a year and we can't deal with it either. Our roads become parking lots with many accidents. There was a threat of snow 2 years ago and schools were cancelled. It did not snow that day. So the children received a day off from school for no reason. Another incident occured in 2005. Just a small dusting was forecast but when the snow ended, 3 days had passed and 22 inches of snow had fallen.

But I'm glad you and your family were able to enjoy one of nature's most beautiful events.

A friend of mine is visiting his hometown of Limerick right now. I hope that they aren't having snow in the South over there. He won't find it wonderful or unique now that his residence is in Michigan.
