hide ideas?
I want to give my BP a bigger hide because she is barely able to squeeze into it. The only thing is that i dont want her to have a hide where she moves it out of the heat and then gets too cold and possibly dies. So something homeade, cheap, and heavy enough not to be moved around.

I dont think your BP would ever die because they had moved their hide. If your temps are right your bp wouldnt die in a night. That is if your temps and everything is right. As for a hide, i use some black plastic tubs from the dollar store or walmart. Their like dish tubs. There is a guide on this forum in the DIY area or caging area.

Re: hide ideas?
I keep my BP in a rack and only use 1 hide. They move it around all the time it's actually quite funny. As for a cheap hide some big breeders use PVC pipe cut short ways and long ways. This works very well for its purpose and is fairly cheap. Also when I got into BP I thought they would want a hide fairly large in comparison to their size. But in fact they like to be cramped like the rat burrows in which they live in the wild. My snakes will actually wear the hide like a hat and it look ridiculous, but they are happier like that than if the hide is too large.

Baby moves his hides around, if he gets to cold or too hot or decides he doesn't like the view anymore he just moves it back. Or to a new spot. Or turns it right around. It's hilarious watching this little fake rock hover around the cage xD

Re: hide ideas?
Heres a good thread on a homemade hide thats a bit more on the heavy side..
http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=77863
But truthfully unless you have an extremely heavy hide, the snake WILL move it to it's liking... Unless you want to glue the hide to the enclosure? But i don't see how sanitary that would be when it comes to cleaning... But if your temperatures are correct (Correct hot spot temperature, and ambient temperature), your snake will have no chance of getting too cold & dying if they move their hide..
