Comparison Photos

These first photos were taken with my point and shoot Sony with no flash.in a light tent with stand lights on either side and these are photos you have already seen





These are taken with a Canon T1i Dslr using the kit lens(18mm-55mm) with a flash(can't figure out how to make the flash not come on lol) and the same lights and tent as above.






Please tell me what you all think was the DSLR not needed or did it improve the shot. I know I will need to get better at taking the photos as well. Advice is much appreciated

I personally like the first pictures better, but I think the DSLR is sharper. It's just the flash that kills it, lol.

if you put your DSLR in manual mode, the flash will only be used when YOU pop it up with the flash button.

the P&S pics have better lighting, but the DSLR pics are much sharper. all you need to do is figure out the settings of the DSLR and you'll be golden!

The DSRL are a bit better. May be not as much as you would like for the price difference, but it will change with them. The DSRL will really help you to increase your experience and once you get to know the camera, you will get amazing shots trust me

taking the picture in raw also help when you can play with the color after.

But at least now, the pictures are sharper and less blurry (less movement)

The second set of pics has more potential than the first set, IMO. The biggest thing is you need to get that flash off of your subject (hence the "hot spots" on your subject). I use a light tent, and I have my flash Canon 430 EX II set up remotely to the side, going through the light tent. Then you get the brightness with the flash, but it gets diffused through the light tent.

If you can't disconnect your flash or get an external, experiment with different objects to soften your flash. Try a little paper towel over it, or a semi-clear piece of plastic.

The first and fourth pictures from your original camera to me look a little out of focus. None of the DSLR photos look out of focus at all and are very crisp, so that's a good improvement. I will also agree with everyone else on the flash.
