Thinking About Buying
Hi I have always loved reptiles and finally bought my first snake a normal Ball Python. Now I find myself always at my friends house obsessing over his bearded dragon and when I'm at home I'm glued to my BP cage. My question is pretty simple what shoudl I take in consideration before I make up my midn when and where to buy a bearded dragon, even if I shoudl buy one or not?

Re: Thinking About Buying
Please consider the overall cost in purchasing a dragon. Not only is the set up going to cost a pretty penny---you need a good sized cage, heat lamps, and a UVB lamp---but they eat A LOT, especially babies.
Babies need 100s of crickets/worms every week. Adults are a little better, but they will still want a fresh salad once or twice a day, plus bugs a few times a week.
I ended up purchasing my own superworms and breeding them, and I HATE bugs lol... but that's the breaks when owning a dragon.
They are little fatties.

Re: Thinking About Buying
more time and maintenance in a bearded dragon..but they enjoy interaction with you too..my beardie knows when his out time is and hes ready for it everyday..he just hangs with me while I clean or watch tv..its pretty cool..
Ball pythons are definately easier to take care of.. I have 2 of them..I handle them often also ..I find my friends prefer to visit the beardie over the pythons..so if you have the dedication to a daily care pet over the snakes weekly care then i say go for the beardie!! I purchased mine from a local reptile show..you can get really cool morphs for good prices. My little guy is a belgian red..part of his tail was nipped off so I picked him up for $20.00..
