Re: What is THIS?
Yeah if its a scale it might be extra melanin. afterall pied is a leaky gene anyways. BP's get lighter and darker per scale as they age.

Re: What is THIS?
No idea on what it could be. How long have you had her? I would try putting her on newspaper or paper towels and see what it looks like after her next shed.

Re: What is THIS?
I think some people are looking at the black scale and others are looking at the smaller stippling in the white areas. Which are you concerned about?
Would you breed a wobbler dog even though it had a cool coat?

Re: What is THIS?
Hi,
I'm guessing it's the stippling.
There was someone on the captivebred forums with the same issue I think.
The general concensus seemed to be it was from the bedding. I would take the advice previously given by pfan151 and switch to newspaper and look at her again after the next shed.

Re: What is THIS?
They are not ticks. They are random black scales.
I was talking about what was on the dorsal area.
Albey was able to identify it. They sometimes get the red on the dorsal area before a shed.
These are the random scales.

Albey was right. I have a Pied female going into shed right now, and she has the pink spots as well. If you watch Albinos closely before, during and after a shed you will see it there as well. Also, I see it very frequently on Hypos, but it isn't pink, but rather looks like a bruise (for lack of a btter word). Very nice Pied by the way.
