    Make-shift Snake Trap

Can anyone contribute ideas for a make-shift snake trap?

Apparently, there are 2 snakes on the loose that have some of the locals hysterical over a harmless snake.

One of which seems to be leaving a trail with a girth of about 7", the other elusive snake seems to have been caught eating a bird by one of the gardeners. I've spotted some of its droppings near the sighting, but no snake.

    Any ideas? Suggestions?

Wait, the girth being 7" wide?
I'm confused, so it's a large boa or python rummaging about?

You can try to entice them with f/t rats, but that's really about it when they're outside.

    How big are the droppings?
How do you know they're harmless? Where do you live?

No no, there are TWO snakes I'm trying to entice and trap.

I'm hoping to acquire suggestions form fellows herpers on their methods.

One of the snakes seems to be leaving its girth tracking, I measured the girth to about 7" and found a huge glass tank left behind a house currently on foreclosure.

The other snake is in another residence, and has been caught eating a bird mid-air, or so I've been told. And its droppings on this one seem to be around 2" length, with evidence of fur leading me to believe it's eating field mice in the area.

    LOL

Seriously, I laughed out loud at your scientific conclusions.

    AHAHahAHAHAHahahAHAHAHAHahahHAHAHAhahahahAha

Measured the girth......not the width, the girth of a snake you've never seen and which I highly doubt exists to begin with. You were then "told" and believe it well enough to repeat, that the snake was seen snatching a bird out of mid-air AND because of a poop AROUND 2 inches in length, a length which one would think you having such personal familiarity with there would be no doubt about anything else of that length, no rulers or tape measures up there in Bakersfield ( wonder what he measured the GIRTH of the snake with?) and THEN you find hair in the unmeasurable snake poop and determine from that evidence that the snake that you told us was snatching birds out of midair had the hair of a field mouse in it and, no... i just can't go on....laughing too hard......can't catch breath.....you are one funny little man, petey, you are one funny little man.

Here we go again... having nothing better to do but criticize.

You try too hard to make me angry, you just can't realize that you're too stupid to actually give some MEANINGFUL advice, as always so critical of what I do.

    Get a life.

My best guess would be some sort of scented trap that you could monitor.

All the commercial traps I'm finding are glue traps.

Wow i find this to be a really rude comment that was completely unnecessary. You didn't have to be so sarcastic in your response when the OP was asking a legitimate question. I agree with you and your conclusions and like what your trying to do to help them out and capture them so people don't have to be scared I like your conclusions and with a track having a width of 7 inches can only mean its a large constrictor or giant rattlesnake. No garder snake, rat snake, or corn snake could leave a track that wide.

You know what i would try, get an outdoor lamp or a dome lamp with a red basking light. Get like a storage tub that you would find at walmart or where ever that is about 60qt or so and cut a hole in the side for the snake to get in. I would leave this setup with some bedding in the bottom with the smell of rats or mice on it, so if you have some at home that would probably work. Now i don't know how you would go about closing the door on the snake or even making a door, but you could also just put a hole on the top of the tub so the snake could get in, but might take some time to get out. Check the trap often to see if anyone "moved in." This is just a suggestion, but the mouse or rat smell could entice the snake and this is probably better than just leaving a rat or mouse in there as free food haha.

I'm only playin' along to your stupid lil' games. You wanna make your reports and don't like it when someone else does it? You're just a sore loser who thinks he knows it all but doesn't seem to actually prove it, instead wants to run a mockery of everything. Get a life, your village is missing you!
