    Vision Cages

I am thinking about buying a couple of vision cages for my ball pythons. I do, however, have a couple of questions about them. First off, how is belly heat applied to a plastic cage? would it be safe to apply a uth to a vision cage?

Secondly, I have a herpstat ND. Does the vision cage allow for this? I would hate to have to drill a hole into a cage to have the herpstat. That being said....I have to have my herpstat!

Those of you that have a vision cage and a proportional thermostat please let me know!

    Thanks!

Not sure at all about your herpstat...but as far as being safe to apply heat to plastic...

Here is a chart with the most common plastics used in today's industry, along with their melting points........all of them being above 250 degrees. I would like to see a uth get that hot, even uncontrolled

So you'd be fine as far as that goes....my question about this type of cage, is do people mount them inside? Or on the bottom?? They seem kind of thick, I wonder if the heat would radiate very good all the way through to where the snake needs the heat to be?

I use the dbs 1000 with mine, no problem. I do not however use it inside the cage but right between one mat and the cage. I have ultratherms under mine. Works great. As for Visions. I love them because I can find them on craigslist really cheap!

Visions have there ups and downs. They are very lightweight and do not leak. For that reason I love them but thats about it. You have to really rig them to keep humidity up. They tend to warp and bow out if you stack them so you need to build racks for them. But you can find them pretty cheap used so thats a plus.
