My mom can't even stand to see a rubber snake!

It will take time. Good luck!

I have the exact same problem
I had just been showing her this site and a book I got and now shes like a walking encyclopedia on BP
So my advice is make sure she knows all about the snake and it'll be easier for her to understand theres nothing to fear

Make sure if you are dealing with someone very scared of snakes, Don't let them hold a real head shy snake. They will think is retreat where his neck curls up like ribbon candy is his attack pose. It's best to let them hold adults since they tend to usually be over the head shy stage.
