Securing a Sterilite tub

I went in to grab some crickets today and my boss gave me a female ball (parents dont know). I set her up in a sterilite tub but i was wondering how to secure to lid becuase it seems like she would easily be able to slip out of it.

extra large clips. those big black office clips work the best.

Put heavy books on it, bungee cords, or like bamf64 said, use those black office butterfly clips

Bungee cords or binder clips are the way to go. If you're using bungee cords just be careful when you're taking them off or putting them on they snap back and can cause harm. Personally, i like binder clips

Things like weights (rocks or books or bricks) can be dangerous because the snake may still be able to push part of the lid up and then can get caught between the lid and the tub and suffocate. I think there are a few threads with this scenario happening in them and those members lost their animals, or animals like cats or dogs can push the weights off and then you're back to the same situation.

I used luggage straps around the tub and binder clips at the corners...

Better yet get a locking tub.

Even with the locking tubs, I've used binder clips for the big snakes... if they push hard enough, the sides of even the locking lid will push up enough for escape! Maybe you're using a different kind of tub, but that's my observation with the ones I use.

You know I've always heard this, and yes, the middles do bend up a bit.
I've used locking tubs for almost 2 years and had no escapes(except when I left it unlocked), even with a 3500 gram female, and currently three 2200 gram plus females and numerous 1000+ gram snakes.
I use sterilite ultras(grey handled) and green handled sterilites in 6qt, 15qt, 34qt and 40qt sizes.

That said it's still not a bad idea to cover your bases, especially if the snake can get lost in the house

Exactly... even though it's doubtful they'd escape a locking tub, better safe than sorry!

And to the OP, I just put one large binder clip on either side of the lid - seems to work fine. Most of my snakes are in a rack now, so that's no longer necessary, but I still do it for the separate (corn snake & QT) tubs.

This is what I use, too. Though, I do sometimes get the crap scared out of me when they pop one off....
