Dom, Co-dom, Recessive

Which do you prefer to work with (that is breed). I know all projects are different, but which projects do you tend to like better and why?

Personally I like Co-Dominant projects, because you not only have an interesting mix with other morphs, but there's always the SUPER factor as well.

My answer is yes to all of the above.

Dom= what you breed is what you get end of story you know what everything will look like and great crosses.

Co-Dom= Makes super and great crosses

Recessive= Great crosses, better holding price on babies, and sometimes you don't alway get what you see.

They are all great. IMO not a single one is better than the other.

Co dom. Its like having a dominant and a recessive together at once, it offers the most variation and the most overall fun. In fact I think that if every trait were codom then it would be all the more interesting

Working with recessives is cool because there's the 'I don't know' factor trying to prove out hets, with surprises and setbacks. It keeps things interesting. I don't know if there's a good genetic reason for it, but it seems to me that homozygous recessives just have the most different-from-the-norm look to them.

i dont breed, but i agree. i like seeing co-dom projects more bc they all have that super aspect! a co-dom to me is like a 2 in 1 package! its a cool looking visual morph, AND its het for its super =]

I've an almost even split with co-Dom & Recessives. I intend to take it to the next level- designer morphs from both.

I feel the RIGHT Co-Dom x Recessive pairing can create very unique color/ pattern combos. And at 1 in 8 odds from Co-Dom Het x Het -- the visual is doable.
Recessives offer some colors that codoms just don't.

You forgot the Co-dom X recessive. I am working exclusively on Pied co-dom combos....more specifically Pewter, Sterling, and Silver Streak Pieds.

Not saying anyone is wrong because I have already stated my point of view. But what is so wrong with recessives? They hold value way longer than any codom out there. Look at an albino and a pastel which is older and which is worth more in todays market? Yes a super pastel is worth more than an albino but how about a spider het albino compared to a bumble bee? See where I am going with this? All 3 traits have the same value for breeding but not for the market and no I am not in it for money but I am in it to break even and producing 1000 pastels a year is not going to do that. Just a thought.

They're not far behind codoms in popularity here. You should be asking what's wrong with the dominant traits, NO ONE LIKES THEM (according to this)
