Disclaimer: Obviously I'll be calling my vet first thing tomorrow and his instructions will trump any here, but I figure more advice can't hurt.
I took my BP to the vet last week with what he said was a mild (probably bacterial) infection on his belly. (Early scale rot?) He gave me a topical cream and Baytril for a 10 day course of sub-cutaneous injections.
He's halfway through the course of antibiotics, and definitely starting his shed cycle; today his eyes went blue.
Should this combination of infection and shed change anything about how I handle his medication or shed process? Can I give him a full bowl of water to soak in? Can I raise the humidity of his tank to shed-levels? Should I continue to give him his topical cream? Can I give him sub-cutaneous shots while he's shedding? Has anyone else been in this situation before?
If it matters, I can handle him throughout his shed without getting tagged. I don't make a habit of it, but I've taken him out to clean his tank/fill his water on several occasions and the worse he's done is hissed at me, which he's only done once.
Sorry if my questions are dumb. I just feel like the worst snake-owner of all time letting him get an infection, and I don't want to make any mistakes in getting him better.
