    How long to wait?

Ok so i got my new BCI on Sunday, handled him for about 5 minutes before i put him in the tank, and then he just sat, curled up in the corner, not moving, looking very very pissed off. Tuesday I fed him because i found out he hadnt been fed in 10 days due to the expo and stress and blah blah so i fed him tuesday night. Today was the first day i came home to walk into my room to find him not curled up in the corner, but instead kinda spread out with a trail in the aspen that looks like he had been roaming around. Once i got back in the room he got on edge and stayed a bit spread out but "S"ed up and lifted his head toward me still a little pissy.

Im not about to reach into his tank and handle him yet, i want him to have at least a weak before i start handling him, its what i did with my BPs and they are amazing.

but the question. Should i give him a week and then get gloves and show him whos poss, or should i give him as long as he wants till he doesnt seemed stressed out? Hes eating so i know he isnt in bad shape stress wise, but htis being my first boa idk. My husbandry is spot on, 87-88 hot side during the day and 85-86 during the night and humidity always above 55% and the highest 70% after a light misting (once a day)

i would wait a week but no need for gloves unless you dont like getting bit chances are he will let you know hes pissed but if you want to take him out you could cover his head with a hide in his tub(done this before) and it helps get them out once out they are usually fine

im not afraid of getting bit, he is a little guy it wont hurt someone had told be it hurts alooooot more to get bit by a boa than it does a BP is the only reason i said if. Getting tagged isnt too big of a deal for me though, i just want to be able to handle by snake eventually lol

    Re: How long to wait?

With my guy i only rated 5 days after he settled in then i would hold him. But sometime he would hiss as i was trying to pick him up but never bite me. Then after i got him out i would just let him roam through my fingers for about 30 mins put him back after about a week never hissed again. Try that. Honestly if you think about it how long is it gonna take a snake to get acclimated to a 20L if you get my drift.

    Re: How long to wait?

BCI's don't need as much settling time as a ball python would. Sometimes I would even recommend starting to handle a little bit early.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you've fed him once, and he's settled in his enclosure, you can handle him at your discretion. I doubt that he's nippy, and you probably won't need gloves unless he seems to be.
