    Caramel Mojave: Final clutch/season recap

The odds certainly went my way this season with the CM clutches. THANK YOU BALL GODS!!!!

As promised earlier this season, I would be sharing breeding/incubation statistics/results at years end. Here they are.

This last clutch, like all pairings this season, was Mojave Het to Het Caramel. Six eggs yielded 0.2 Caramel Mojaves 0.1 Caramel, 2.0 Mojave 66% PH Caramels.

The sixth egg died in the egg due to yolk issues. Before incubation I marked it as "possible infertile" after candling due to poor vein structure. Cutting on day 56 revealed snake was laying/incased with more than half its yolk not absorbed. It was a Caramel Mojave with NO KINKING. I had to know whether it was the second male I was hoping for -- popping showed her to be another girl.

Seasons' total for the project were:

7 visuals: 1.5 Caramel Mojaves( minus the 1 DOA girl) and 1.1 Caramels --ZERO KINKING
*** Bonus -- all the visuals were produced by 3 girls that are 50% Het Hypo.

    6.4 Mojave 66% PH Caramel

    3.1 66% PH Caramel

    INCUBATION:

    -- 87 degrees
-- 6 quart CLOSED Sterlite boxes with eggcrate, perlite, and Press N Seal -- no breathing until day 45
-- cut on day 55-56 -- hatched on day 58-60

I will be raising all the visual girls with the intent of doing my part in putting the "infertile Caramel female" question to rest in a few years!!!

I am looking forward to this spring in the hopes that my ever-growing CM boy will breed for me. I have some pretty codom girls waiting for his "lusty advances".

I will update CM group as they grow. They are one of the few morphs that get DRAMATICALLY better with age.

    Thanks for looking.

I just picked up a caramel female, and will be doing my part to put this to rest as well. Good luck with those awesome babys.

Mmm ... I am a huge fan of this combo One of the things I love is the back striping -- looks to me like that only showed up on your CMs, and not your caramel or mojo sibs ..? Has that been a consistent feature of all the caramel mojaves?

I'd say the Mojo, I've seen a few Mojos with that dorsal stripe. Especially when you consider that Mojos are a color and a pattern morph, where as Caramel Albinos are "just" a color morph.

It is the Mojo for sure folks.

Many Mojaves have more "dashing" -- as seen below in the Mojave Pos Hets from my first CM clutch (below). The 2 genes together seem to "connect the dots/dashes" in almost all of the Caramel Mojaves.

The girl from my second clutch has a full stripe with 3 TINY breaks. The lighter girl from #3 above has just the one break that I don't notice unless I am looking for it. I have no doubt I will get a perfect stripe in the future.

Stripe looks really cool as the CM color intensifies with age -- much more contrast.

Frigin awesome Bill, you are now in the drivers seat for some Super Mystic/Phantom crosses, I can hardly imagine the boost of color a Caramel would give a Mystic Potion or Super Mystic/Phantom!

    Great job Sir!
