    Rodent Size?

My Normal is about 3 feet long I feed her 2 medium mice (they're about 2-3 in. long) every sunday...but she has a small head like about an inch and i don't think she can gulp an adult mouse...what do you guys think? i'm also trying to feed rats instead of mice so what size would you guys recommend me to give her?

I would at least go with a rat pup! She may even be able to eat a small rat! What is her weight?

    Weight doesn't matter.

How big around is she? It doesn't matter how wide her head is. I recommend feeding one prey item at a time, and it *sounds* like she should definitely be able to take at the very least a small rat. I've got a 30" bp on small to medium rats.

Mine is 2.5 ft long and 440 grams. I just switched him to rats and he took down a 61.5 gram small rat. He does have a tiny head, but he opens that mouth really big. He can do it!

Size of the head has nothing to do with the size of the prey a BP can take down.

Feed a prey slightly smaller to equal your BP's girth size (widest part of your BP's body)

If you want to switch to rats, at first I would recommend feeding something similar to the size of the prey you are already feeding, then after 2 to 3 successful meal upgrade to the appropriate size. (This way it makes the transition a little easier)

I just fed 11 hatchlings an hour ago, that are 2 - 4 months old in age small weaned rats with no problems. The rats were a little bigger than a large mouse.
