Re: Anyone here tryiing to lose weight?

I am up at about 170 right now and would love to get back down to about 150 or 155. I started my "program" this week so I figure if I just stick with it that I should be where I want by about next summer.

Re: Anyone here tryiing to lose weight?

On June 1st of this year I weighed 365 lbs. and wore a tight size 48 pants. As of this morning I weigh 278 and wear a size 38. My goal is to weigh 200 by June 1st of 2010 or darn close to it......
A veteran - whether on active duty, honorably discharged, retired or in the reserves - is someone who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to, and including their life".

That is honor , and there are many people in this country today who no longer understand that.

Re: Anyone here tryiing to lose weight?

I was weighing about 195 at the end of July and now weigh 160. All I have been doing is taking my dog for long long walks/jogs. About 5-10 miles a day and push ups in morning/whenever/night, and weightlifting for endurance 5 days a week.

I got your secret. Do what I did. Stop all exercise (I swam for 10 years and quit last fall). Then you join a fraternity and drink lots of beer. I'm just guessing this isn't the type of weight you're trying to add though.

Re: Anyone here tryiing to lose weight?

I actually just started working out and joined my very first gym. I'm in the military, so I have to keep a certain minimum, but my weight's been slowly creeping up on me, so now I'm about 15 lbs above my ideal weight and freaking out.

I do PT 3x per week for work, then go to the gym every night and do 30 min to an hour of cardio. My biggest problem is how much I love food, so I've been using this cool website called SparkPeople. It's got a meal tracker which lets you realize how many calories you're eating each day. It was a real wake-up call for me. I used to eat a bowl of popcorn for dinner some nights, thinking it was a light meal. Turns out to have almost 900 calories. I've definitely started looking at labels more closely.

Good luck, everyone! I think our society tries its best to make us fat, and it takes a lot of fortitude to go against the flow.

Re: Anyone here tryiing to lose weight?

i'm a buck 70 or so and happy.

I don't care about my weight, it's just a number, but I've been doing a bit of cardio lately, I'd love to make hiking and outdoors stuff easier and be able to go at a faster pace.
