But my original point was, and perhaps I didn't word it very well, was that a yellow belly x lesser that is het 'hidden gene' was used to create the Red Spectrum. i don't know if this is true, and as previously stated in this thread, Kevin is not currently revealing that information so no-one knows for sure.
The more insightful theory of the platty daddy is that it is also a part of the BEL complex and is co-dom (dominant), therefor the lesser cannot carry the gene without expressing it in the form of the platty daddy. Otherwise people would be breeding two lessers together to get plattys, which has never happened.

All of the lessers currently existing came from the platty daddy, so from all of the breedings it should've happened, but it only happens from the normal looking offspring back to lessers. Similar to the phantom genetics in the oddity of the BEL complex.

Actually that isn't necessarily true, there have been more imported since Ralph Davis's original Platty Daddy, there was even a HUGE controversy over it when they started showing up in Europe long before they were ever exported over there from the US.

Derek made a reference to that in the other thread.

I was simply making a point.

Yes and thats why you see "weird" colored WC babies fo sale all the time. People try to pass them off as a dinker and they are about as normal as can be.

    Re: Red Spectrum....?

I may be waaaay out on this one, but I "heard" that there may be a super form to the Red Axanthic. Anyone else aware of this? Also, if I wanted to get some feedback on some imported oddities I've purchased in the past year or so where would I post them? I don't want to get this thread off track.

    Re: Red Spectrum....?

I tought the red spectrum had a Woma HG in them ?

When you look at the Woma HG + Lesser, it make a nice stripe etc... and a bit similar to the red spectrum. So adding the YB would make sense isn't it ?

I will doubt the Red Axanthic is part of this since Red Axanthic is a lack of red pigmentation, how could there be red in the red spectrum ?
