Sadly I find myself doing the same thing a lot of the times. It's one of those moments to just when you realize that 90% of the time the pet expenses outweigh your own.
For me it's pretty bad considering on top of the snakes I've got dogs and cats too. But I think the mammals costs outweigh the snakes easily.
