Breeder Morphs

So...I'd like to start off saying sorry for all of the recent threads >.>

I have a normal female. Now, I'm not sure about breeding, but I think it would be interesting later down the line (WAY later) to produce some morphs and things like that. I'm purely interesting in the different morphs. Money just isnt my thing and no way am I thinking about breeding to make tons of cash and hit the clubs. I was thinking about getting a male for my female (If I do breed. If not, he will be a cool looking dude) and I looked at an interesting pastel with a "clown head" today, a spider and a pastel male as well as a pinstripe male. Now, in all of your experience and expertise, which of these males will produce the most interesting morphs (largest amount of different morphs or the best looking) from the normal female? I've never been quite good at catching onto the morph charts or anything, and just thought a straight answer (without all this searching) would be nice

I think any of those would produce some cool offspring. It's going to depend on what you like and what your wanting to work with.

Pastel, spider, pinstripe will all make the same morph as it is when bred to a normal (1/2 the clutch will be morph, 1/2 will be normal). The "pastel with a clown head" might be a pastel clown. If you are going to spend the big bucks for that, go ahead and buy some het clown females also ....
If you want some interesting morphs out of your normal breeding, buy a combo male, (bumblebee, lemon blast, spinner, etc....) at least you'll have the chance for a couple different things!

Well I like all of the $5000+ morphs, but thats not going to happen unless I win the lottery! LOL.


The pastel with the "clown head" as listed as just that, so Im not sure if its anything special. He was't expensive either but I really liked his look...my sister told me that I needed to talk to my BF first and buy later (which she is right) but I REALLY want him and im so worried he will be gone tomorrow. But I also understand I need to inspect them well and speak to the breeders and make sure I buy one that isnt ill etc.

I think I'll check out the combos tomorrow then when I have more time. I wasn't looking for them today so I don't recall seeing any. I was too hung up on albinos--so cute!

The best advice I can give you is to go with your gut. Take some time tonight and go through various breeder sites online (we can provide tons of links). See what makes you go WOW, what just fascinates you then buy the male that will help you work toward that morph. There's so many combinations possible that in a lot of ways it just comes down to what appeals to each of us. The only other advice is to go with the best possible example of that morph you can afford. To get a "sorta nice" pastel for instance because it was on sale is pointless I think when you are looking at foundation animals for a breeding future. You might save a bit of cash now but you may not produce the quality of morph you are looking for down the road.

Awesome. I was excited about the show because it was a bunch of breeders, but then again just because they breed them (instead of a pet store) doesn always mean its the best place to go, so I have to keep that in my mind. I went through a lot of the links they offer on the reptile expo website yesterday, but I will def. go again like right now.
