Re: Do i need a license to ship bps?
I didn't read through the entire thing but you would probably need to get permits for them before you shipped. Otherwise you would be risking losing your collection i would think since its illegal. Im sure you could get away with shipping without the permits but im not sure if the risk of having your snakes taken is worth it.

Luck maybe? i honestly cant answer that because im not familiar with NY laws or the process of shipping reptiles. Im just not sure i would be willing to risk my collection. I know I saw a guy on animal cops : san francisco that had his collection seized because pythons and boas are illegal there aswell.

To be clear, you can do whatever you want to. It's your America. However, Ball Pythons are illegal in the 5 boros. If you get caught you risk the animal being seized and not returned to you. Sellers outside of the area likely would ship to you because they are not familiar with local laws.

oh, well if i get caught will they sease my whole collection or just that one animal, and what would they do with the animal they took? Give it to a good home outside of the boroughs? Also can i just put the return address as my friend who now lives in long island? Or another that lives in nj?

Re: Do i need a license to ship bps?
its Maybe not really worth it that much. i dont want to risk loosing my collection, but i have like a year to think about it. ill do only a little here and there, maybe i wont at all but ill have to think about it. Is there any kind of license i can get that allows me to keep them? But then why would they just give it to me...

Re: Do i need a license to ship bps?
Its actually a felony to possess any pythons in the 5 boroughs. I know people who have them there, but they risk fish and wildlife seizing your collection.
I know myself personally would not ship to NYC but I also know others who do.

Re: Do i need a license to ship bps?
I don't know if it's just me, but I would tend to think that publicly admitting that you would/are planning to do something that is illegal, especially as bad as a felony, and will probably just try to hide it or circumvent the law, in a public forum is kind of... assinine?
Don't get me wrong, I understand the love of the animals and all that and it really sucks to live somewhere that you're not allowed to own them without a permit, but that's just the way things are at this point. And every single time someone breaks those laws and has their animals seized it's just one more time that we get to see those huge headlines "illegal killer snakes seized from home in XXXXX".
So my advice is that not only shouldn't you wait a year to decide what you're going to do just because you plan on breeding, but you should immediately find out everything you need to do to be able to legally keep your current collection, including paying for any and all permits. Period.
But that's just my opinion on the matter since I don't particularly appreciate when someone does something illegal in regards to our hobby that can and will draw more negative attention to us.
And as far as people shipping to places that are illegal for that species, it is usually stated by all sellers to know your local laws regarding that species before they will sell to you. Meaning it's not their responsibility to check every single city, town, state, and other local ordinances in your area to make sure you are allowed to legally own what you are inquiring about.
